Long before most people had heard of “keto,” Laura decided to cut out sugar, grains and other carbs from her diet, which at the time consisted mostly of fast food. Weighing over 300 pounds when she started , she began to see drastic results within months.
In the span of just nine months, Laura lost 150 pounds, without even adding in exercise. Her doctor dismissed the results, attributing her weight loss solely to the medication he had written for her. But she hadn’t even tried it. She knew better – she felt the difference herself in boundless energy, clearer skin, better digestion, and an overall greater sense of health.
Intrigued, Laura went on to become a nurse and learn more about health and nutrition. Then, after coming across a Joe Rogan podcast featuring the carnivore diet advocate Dr. Shawn Baker, Laura decided to give an all-meat diet a try. Today she follows a lion diet centered around ruminant meats, egg yolks and salt, practices intermittent fasting, and goes on extended water fasts periodically.
Laura began making her own natural skin and hair care products, which she now sells through her website. She also counsels her patients on making gradual dietary changes if they want to try out carnivore, advising switching one meal at a time over a few weeks to ease the transition. She explains that fasting provides benefits like reducing inflammation and clearing out damaged proteins in the body.
