I recently came across an interesting video by the Carnivore Rabbi discussing why searches for the carnivore diet now exceed searches for the popular keto diet. In the video, he outlines five key reasons why the carnivore approach is gaining traction:
1. Distrust in mainstream nutrition authorities. After decades of fad diets failing 95% of people, we’ve lost faith in conventional dietary guidelines. This makes us more open to alternative approaches like carnivore .
2. Democratization of information via the internet. Social media gives everyone a platform to share their experiences, reducing the gatekeeping power of institutions. The popularity of real-world carnivore success stories demonstrates its effectiveness.
3. Simplicity. Counting calories and weighing portions is tedious. With carnivore, you just eat meat and drink water – it’s much easier to stick to.
4. Affordability. While meat itself can be expensive, the carnivore diet doesn’t require buying special products or programs. Overall it’s cheaper long-term than the standard American diet. This way of eating requires no special coaching program. That’s probably why many nutritionists reject it.
5. Results. Most importantly, carnivore works. Numerous anecdotal reports indicate benefits for autoimmune issues, weight loss, reduced medications, and more. As a grassroots movement, its growth is driven by people sharing their positive experiences.
The Carnivore Rabbi hypothesizes that carnivore succeeds because it aligns with our evolutionary adaptation – we were designed as meat-eaters. While the mechanisms require more research, what matters most is that it improves people’s health and wellbeing in a sustainable way.
